This Fortress Fence and pressure treated deck project was completed in Cochrane AB. These types of fences are the most popular for residential fencing. There are build variations that you can do to give the fence a sturdier build and beefier look. Gates always have over head cross rails to support posts and look great.
Fortress Fence Contractor
Whether it be using standard 4×4 posts or increasing the size to a 6×6 post all posts are dug to 4′ and concreted in with 3 bags of cement. This ensures there will be no frost heaving affecting the fence posts.
With this type of build we sloped the bottom side of the fence to follow grade and kept the top of the fence level at one height. The owner requested the fence be at a lesser height so they could view the environmental reserve in the back of the property off the new deck.
The pressure treated wood deck was built with 2×8 joists and 5 1/4×5 deck boards with a set of stairs leading to the back yard. All materials are affixed using 3″ ACQ screws for strength and to prevent rusting of the screws over time.
The wood deck was finished off with bronze aluminum railings with glass. These types of railings have a 25 year limited manufacturers warranty for any type of breakage or colour fading. They come in 6 different colours to match window trims and doors of the existing house.
The client had requested an area she could use for plantings so we came up with these planter boxes made out of 4×6 pressure treated timbers. They are easy to build and are very sturdy for holding back material. With the water proof injection of this wood stops potential rotting over the course of time.
